As CT expands to 16 or more slices, new reconstruction techniques are required due to the geometry of data acquisition. Aquilion`s patented ConeviewTM reconstruction utilizes a proprietary algorithm based on the Feldkamp principle to ensure the best possible image quality when scanning with 32 slices.

So rather than compromise slice profile and image integrity by simply modifying existing algorithms , Toshiba took the more challenging approach of creating a new algorithm more appropriately suited to 16 slice scanning. The result is astonishing image clarity and resolution.
Four slice scanners use traditional algorithms to correct the geometry of the X-ray fan beam angle during reconstruction. With the more extreme fan beam angle required for 32 slice scanning, Coneview enables the more angular data to be accurately reconstructed for image presentation.
